Our Story
From a humble beginning, founded by Mr. Prabath Gunasekara in 1992, today Calico has grown to be a diversified business enterprise that manufactures and supplies accessories to the global apparel and footwear industry. With state of the art manufacturing facilities located in Sri Lanka and Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), Calico produces draw cords, covered rubber, woven tapes, tipped ends and jacquard. Calico is home to over 500 dedicated and passionate individuals working cohesively to deliver a ‘touch that none can match’.

These are manufactured for a number of International brands meeting the perfection in Round and Flat Forms in Cotton, Polyester and Spun. Additionally Shock Cords and Reflective Cords are also manufactured.

Equipped with best Machineries the Company manufactures Twill Tapes, Herringbone Tapes, Webbings and Narrow Tapes in Solid and Designed forms.
TIPPED ENDS
The Manufactured cords are Tipped and fixed with Eco Friendly Clear ends, Enamelled colour ends, Colour PET ends, Printed or Embossed Logo ends.
COVERED RUBBER
Manufactured for a number of reputed international clients, covered rubber manufactured by Calico are known for their durability & elasticity.
YARN DYING
The Company uses most modernized dye plants that strictly follows the environmental safety technological standards to dye cotton, polyester and spun polyester yarns.

TOWARDS A BETTER PLANET BY RECYCLING
Calico has helped to reduce the carbon footprint we make on our world. By usingyarn which are reproduce by recycling the plastic waste, we strive to solve one of
the greatest environmental problems plaguing our planet. Calico collaboration with
Eco Spindles has successfully used yarn produce by recycled bottles to produce
the items for our customers. Calico have recycled 28,267,508 PET bottles from
2020 to 2021 to manufacture draw cords and tapes by reducing plastic waste & save our
planet. The Calico products are proof that we can live more sustainably with the
help of technology.
Every year 2 Billion liters of bottled water is sold in the world, out of these bottles
only 1 in 5 bottles are recycled. It takes up to 500 years for plastic water bottles to
degrade. During this process, plastic releases toxins and microplastics that impact
Aquatic Life.
